My Art Battle on Oxford St.... this Thursday!!

This Thursday night, I am flexing my art muscles in a live art battle on Oxford St!
Its set to be a fun filled night full of good music, drinking, dancing and a hell of a lot of art!

Name this bar on Oxford Street is a unique, brilliant bar, it hosts fantastic DJ's, live music and of course... live art battles!

Six great artists have already battled it out on the pubs walls over the last few months....I am next on the list and battling against a damn good artist, Claire Nakazawa.

The art theme for this battle is "A view from my mind" so I of course have all sorts of crazy ideas running around in my head at the moment.....now to pick one?!

So come join in on the fun, have a drink and cheer me on, while I make as much of a mess of the pub walls as possible =)

Name this bar is on Taylor Square end of Oxford St, look out for my Sunday Sets Mural on the outside and you can't miss it!

A snip-it on Art Battles -
Art Battles Australia is a unique LIVE art movement - hosted at Oxford Street's Name This Bar - combining art and entertainment, with a competitive edge, giving artists and entertainers the opportunity to expose their talents to the public in live shows and exhibitions.
In a way that a fashion designer uses a catwalk to promote their label, Art Battles Australia uses high pressure competitions and entertainment to promote the creative talents of Australian artists from all walks of life.

Dont forget to like their Facebook page, so you can keep up to date on the semi final rounds....here's hoping I will be painting my way through them!

Wish me luck peoples...hope to see some of your friendly faces there on the night!

Our snazzy stall at Glebe markets!

Hello hello!
I know these photos are late... but hey, better late then never I (and about a million other people) say.
We had a great day at Glebe markets a few Saturdays ago, the day started out rainy but the sun won out in the end....we went home sunburnt by the end of the day

Check out our lovely stall in the photos below.

Next market will be in the beginning of March, so keep an ear out for where and when.

Cara and I at our lovely stall.

Some of our design lines - Bunting, Clutches and Hand Screen Printed Tote bags.
All hand made with love in Sydney.

Hand made Jewellery.
A variety of rings and necklaces....my favorites are the necklaces that are made up of words and sayings cut out of lovely old vintage books, each one is so unique.

The Sillier than Sally stall crew.
Cara and her bub Cypres, Brett looking snazzy as ever under a parasol, me checking over my lovely wares and Amy, doing her thing!
A girl couldn't ask for a more awesome crew!

We had a lot of other visitors throughout the day...it was great to see so many friendly faces.

Hopefully we will see you (if you live in the area code) at the next markets coming up in March.

Street Art/Mural by the Sillier Than Sally Crew!!

This week has been a busy and fun one, full of jewellery designing and painting walls!
My sisters, Cara, Amy and I had a great day on Wednesday, getting our street art on.

We painted a mural on the outside of the pub/club called Name This Bar, on Oxford St,
for the upcoming Sunday Sets DJ Competition, hosted by Flight Deck.

Starting this Sunday at Name This Bar - 6 till late.
Be there if your interested in checking out what all the fuss is about.

I have included some images of the lead up to our handy work below....

Setting up camp, on the not so clean streets of Oxford.
Baby Cypress gets the best spot and also doubles as a paper weight, so we have no fly away drop sheets to worry about. I start with preliminary drawings. Cara gets the tedious job of cutting out all the stencils to be used for spray painting...I love being able to palm off the tedious jobs to Cara....Cara doesn't always like my palming efforts as much as I do though.

Everyone is getting stuck into the painting....even baby Cypress wants a go.

We had a fab day, painting, spray painting, and of course some sneaky painting on each others appendages ... also had some great conversations with interested passer-bys.

Our mural coming together, just putting on the final touches.

Finished and ready to rock out for the upcoming Sunday Sets.
Don't forget to check out (and like) our new Face book page if you have not already!

Well boys and girls.....we are nearly there, we have a new line of limited edition clutches on their way!

Our clutches are completely hand made by the Sillier than Sally crew with love.
They have a fab pocket, for cards and money, so you can ditch your wallet for your outing.
They also sport a clip to attach your house keys 2 for ease... so no searching for or losing them after a day or nights shenanigans.

Painting of Chubby! New animal portrait.

So I am delving back into the world of animal portraits.
How I love our little furred friends....and to be able to create art work that captures their soulful eyes, spirit and cheekiness as commissioned art... well, in my opinion there is nothing better!

Here is Chubby's story.....
Chubby was a much loved rescue staffie, she lived a long life (against all odds.... due to numerous tumors and other major health issues and a habit of jumping off buildings), full of love, courage and gumption. Chubby died last Christmas.

For her owners she is a symbol of strength, determination and will power.

I was asked to commission a large canvas art work of her (as her owners had heard just how ridiculously awesome I am =) and I of course could not wait to get stuck into finding out all about Chubby and creating a large scale art work of her......So here she is...

Painting process - Layered acrylic and spray paint on canvas.
Layered vintage classical sheet music used in sections, the sheet music was a waltz from the 1940's
"When your hair has turned to silver, I will love you just the same."
The beautiful wording tugged at my heart, and so suited Chubby and how her owners felt about her.
In sections it had been torn and taped back together... alot like Chubby herself.

I am definitely excited about creating more fabulous animal portraits, (insert shameless plug) give me a yell or a bell if you or anyone you know is interested?
