Art Sneak Peak: My lovely elephants on their way to the framers!!

So, as you can imagine, I am SUPER excited about this event...and a wee bit nervous...but mostly excited!
I have been working on a really dramatic African wildlife series that I will be showcasing at this exhibition. This series of art is quite close to my heart as I have created this body of work from my own photos and fond memories of my utterly jaw dropping and aaaaaamazing journey through Africa.

Big News - Babys & the Sillier Than Sally Evolution Plan!!

Due to the fact that my ever so lovely husband and I are expecting a new edition to the Sillier Than Sally family very soon now (I am seriously pregnant and due our first little one ((a little boy)) in a matter of days) ....things might be a little bit quieter in Sillier Than Sally Land over the next 2 months, I will be taking a wee bit of time off to bask in the glow of motherhood (mmm....more like taking some time off to come to grips with suddenly becoming a full time mum to a mini human)......So I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you missed me/ thought I wasn't talking to you =)

I have wrapped up all markets for the moment, and will not be holding a stall at any until later in the year. I will still be blogging and facebooking some crafty projects I work on...probably just not as regularly.....but hey, who am I kidding - I have never blogged regularly anyway =)
So do keep an eye on this space!

Over the next few months though I will be focusing my arty farty energy towards building my online presence - so expect a new website and online shopping portal, where I will be selling the loveliest of Sillier Than Sally accessories, original art and limited edition prints!

I will also be working on further evolving our existing range of jewellery and clutches to something even shinier and more fabulous - I am super excited about this!!!

The new website, online shop and new Sillier Than Sally accessories range will be launched in June/July.
Plenty of more news on that later.

So, for the moment though I am off to have a baby, wish me luck =) =)

xxxx Sal

African Animal Art!!

Africa - How I love Thee!!

A little while back, I created a series of water colour and ink African animal art, for one of my lovely art clients.

This series was such a pleasure to work on and very close to my heart and also very close to my clients heart, as I created the series from their original photos from one of their many African adventures.

Interested in a print of this lovely elephant? You can grab one HERE

You can also check out the rest of my Art Gallery HERE

Some art series details:
This art series is actually quite large, close to a meter wide, so it was a job I worked on over quite a few weeks and became completely immersed in....well here are some more photos...

These are the photos that I created the series from...

Working on the wild dogs painting

Up close and personal with wild dogs - So cute and slightly feral at the same time!!
I'd say they would try gnawing your head off if you went in for a hug!

Botswana wild dogs - The finished piece.

Close up of the elephant art work piece...elephants have such amazing eyelashes, they have a mind of their own, and are so long!

Proud Botswana elephant - The finished piece.

Close up of my leopard artwork.....this lovely lady took quite a while to create - look at all those spots!

Botswana leopard, basking in the afternoon sun - The finished piece.

And last, the Botswana water buffalo - the finished piece.
This guy had so much attitude, he was such a pleasure to draw/paint.

I am looking forward to (when time allows) further creating a large series of African Animal paintings and drawings....I have so many amazing photos and memories from my own Adventures in Africa to draw from.

It is definitely high on my to-do-list, so hopefully a bit later this year there will be news of an exhibition, I just need a month or two spare to create my series of what are sure to be masterpieces =) =)

Till next blog, stay safe

Nursery Tree Mural

Latest Mural!

We have a little boy on the way....he is due in 5 weeks now (holy Sh!t), and I have finally finished our nursery mural.

My pregnant body and my brain have not really being seeing eye to eye over the last 8 months...we have had a few differences of opinion - like whether I am still super woman or not, whether I am entitled to keep my lunch down or not, and also whether I can move faster than a slow arsed snail or not.....a lot of nots have won out, much to my disgust!!
So as you can imagine this mural took about a week to complete rather than 2 days! BUT, it did turn out ever so lovely and I hope the little kick boxer in my tummy likes it.

Here are some more photos -

Our nursery before being attacked by me

Cute close up of Nutty the Squirrel

The crib and mural came together beautifully =)

As we all know, fairies and Pooh Bears live in trees, so this is a close up of the window and door.

The end.
Now it is onto making the curtains....I might have a cup of tea and put my feet up for a bit first though =)
